Hello Everyone- Who is this little guy you ask? This is Teddy Hilton, he is a goldendoodle & is the new puppy of celebrity columnist Perez Hilton, we figured he was as good a representative as any for this week's details about our upcoming doggy event! As most of you know our boutique on the Lower East Side is part of a great neighborhood, many of our local customers visit the store with their dogs. One of our loyal ladies is Gillian, a member of a great organization called Waggy Tail. The fine people of this organization look after homeless dogs & try to find homes for them, if you are perhaps thinking of adopting (a dog) then do check out their website where you can view pics of needy dogs & find out a little information about each of them, warning- it's a little heartbreaking but what a great organization! On the 26th of June, (that's next Friday!), we will be holding a fundraising event for Waggy Tail. From 5-7.30 we will have sale tables, wine & many dogs with their owners for a fun evening of shopping, chatting & probably some barking....local celebrity Lisa Levy will be in house and at 7pm she will be auctioning off a few great pieces of Wendy Mink jewelry, all proceeds from the auction benefit Waggy tail & 10% of all sales that evening will also go straight to the organization. We hope you can make it if you are in NYC, if not bring your dog by our store on the 27th & 28th to receive the same 10% discount, if you don't own a dog, borrow one!
So here we have have some lovely beads, not a big deal you might think! but, these beads were given to Wendy by a very elderly sherpa in the mountains of Nepal over 24 years ago, all this time ago Wendy was working for the World Bank in Nepal and had trekked a whole day to a very remote village. Upon leaving she was given these beads by her barefoot sherpa, she has kept these ever since & treasures these interesting links to her jewelry past! it was in this area that Wendy developed her love of jewelry & her ties to the Tibetan community, still going very strong with our wonderful team of artisans here in NYC.
New Cheap Chic this week! Plenty of online changes coming over the next week, we have a brand new, very cute, Cheap Chic collection for you both online & in the boutique, we will be keeping some favorites but there will be around 10 new styles added this week to the collection, check back after Thursday the 18th to view & maybe purchase! These styles make perfect gifts as there are choices for under, or close to, $50 which sure is a good price-point in these troubled financial times. Our online groups will also be undertaking a slight makeover, some of the styles currently in 'A Little Special' and 'Simple & Easy' will be changing so if you have coveted any of these styles you might want to pick them up now. Our 'Sample Steals' section online has become a real boomer, our ladies are sure loving the bargains, we hope to expand the one-off/few-off styles in this group over the next few weeks so there will always be some great pieces you have never seen before & maybe you will be the only one to ever own! We can't thank our loyal shoppers enough for their custom both online & in our boutique, it's been a tough year for all but we hope that soon everyone will feel some recovery!

Ah June!The month we wish would hurry up and usher in the heat of summer and banish the rain & wind...sadly that is not the case in NYC right now, if you have a garden it's great but if not, well it's a little too wet!The focus around our studio right now is design, design & design! we have a FABULOUS new Cheap Chic line in the works which will be online towards the end of this month, the above images are a sneak peek at what materials will be on offer; cute new beaded hoop styles, cluster earrings, simple charm necklaces with semi-precious stones, beaded chunky necklaces, pearls and much more! If you are familiar with this range online you will also know that ALL retails for under $100 (plus some under $50) so it's pretty perfect for this economy that's for sure! The new range will also be in our retail store later this month (check back for exact dates) so any styles you see online can be viewed up close and personal if you prefer, though you may be tempted to pick up more than one bargain.... 
There seems to be a fair amount of brides-to-be around right now, we do a roaring trade in jewelry for wedding parties and are always open to designing custom pieces. Lastly for this week we would like to welcome our new neighbors on the Lower East Side!Pilgrim is a very welcome addition to the block & fits right in with their eclectic bunch of goodies....there's a range of fabulous clothing in beautiful fabrics, superb vintage clothing and all sorts of other vintage goodies to keep you happily poking about, a stand out are the candles made especially for the Pilgrim men in Iowa, we hope our dear local customers drop by Pilgrim and enjoy their wares as much as we do, Orchard St just keeps getting better!

Hello and welcome to June.... For New Yorkers it can't come as too much of a surprise to say how much Brooklyn has changed, amazing restaurants & stores are cropping up all over the borough and one of the best for shopping (and eating) must surely be Williamsburg. We are very fortunate to have a selection of pieces in the fabulous Bird on Grand St. This store is quite something, it spans a whole block, pop in on Grand St & pop out the back on N1st! The store is a real drawcard for customers looking for very beautifully made designer clothes, just looking around makes us drool a little; A.P.C, See by Chloe, Nicole Farhi, Virginia Johnson & yes Wendy Mink Jewelry, below is a selection of pieces currently in the store, a smattering of hammered gold & semi-precious baubles complementing the jewelers alongside very nicely! If you do drop by Bird when in the 'Burg make sure to have a wander down Grand towards the river perusing the many vintage furniture spots, then you could always have a fabulous brunch at Aurora (duck confit hash with poached eggs anyone?) and look across the water at Manhatten knowing Brooklyn just might be all it's cracked up to be...
Well the weekend just past was a busy one for Wendy, plenty of time was spent hanging a great new show in the Lower East Side store, below is a glimpse of Julie Shapiro's colorful work which seems to make the jewelry even more alluring and bright. Please do let us know if you are an artist or know one who you think may be suited to a show in our store, we love to celebrate a new hanging with a little wine and friends, especially when we can have the door open and a warm evening breeze floating in, stay in touch with us for event dates and don't hesitate to call Kelly or Brookes at the store regarding Julie's work or future shows.
When the hanging was complete Wendy was also rather busy filling the vintage cases which seem to be needing replenishing every few days, there are certainly some amazing pieces available, all one-off and ranging in era and price, a little something for everyone. Wendy's current favorite is a fabulous copper jewelry designer, make sure to pop in to the store to view some of the range Wendy collected, plus there's some very fun butterflies, bakelite fruit, flower pins, great pieces for Spring-Summer.

All the semi-precious stones & gold details used in this collection were handcrafted for Wendy by artisans in India, these artisans have been working with Wendy almost as long as she has been in business. Over the past year we have been steadily growing an international following online (& in a number of boutiques, click here to view where), thank you to all our regular overseas ladies (Japan, Korea, Germany, Australia, Monaco, The Netherlands & the U.K to name a few!) who love to peruse the site & have us ship great pieces across the miles (thanks Amanda, who surely must be the most be-jeweled lady in London!). We are so fortunate to have our collection in Liberty of London, what an amazing store this is with a brand new re-modeled jewelry (or is that jewellery?) department, we have some lovely styles in the store & on the website so make sure to visit if you have jumped the pond for a shopping trip! if the recession is somehow holding you back you can always view their great selection online. If TopShop can come to the U.S then Wendy Mink Jewelry can surely travel to London! (Truth be told we are a little disappointed TopShop came to NYC, we used to sneak in there for the amazing shoes & then no-one would have them here when we returned...but at least now they are a little closer!)

We hope the week has started well, with Memorial Weekend approaching we are sure everyone is looking forward to an extra day off. These gorgeous wee numbers above are Parisian dancing shoes...though rather disappointingly Wendy has not danced for us. Maybe when it's warmer out?
These sunny temperatures have emboldened us to throw open the door at our boutique & put a lovely market table outside. Last Saturday was a success with many of our loyal locals enjoying the bargains plus a bunch of very satisfied tourists from nearby hotels happily perusing Orchard St. Each weekend we will have this table outside so do drop by if you are in the market for some very affordable gifts or simply an addition to your own summer wardrobe, we hope to see you there this long weekend!
