Archival Beauties!

Hello there- The long weekend is almost upon us, we hope you had a great week so far and this coming weekend is long, sunny and restful! We are busy around these parts gathering wonderful Fall materials for the collections of August, the sun only came out recently in NYC so winter seems an age away but we are always a step ahead in this business! Above you'll see some wonderful sterling silver earrings that you may not have seen before! These silver beauties are from Wendy's archival collection, an early collaboration in Nepal that definitely holds ground today and seems right at home among current styles. These four earring styles above will shortly be added to our Current Collection jewelry group so stay posted (we hope in the next week), or you can of course drop us a line at retail@wendyminkjewelry.com to reserve a pair, we have limited quantities of each so you may want to do that if you've fallen in (silver) love!




We received a little love in the press this month with a gorgeous shot of our Green Onyx Cocktail Ring! Thanks SELF it really looks fantastic on the page, however we have almost sold out of this particular color so if the ring is your thing make sure you go online and click to buy or we might just be all out....we have plenty of fabulous rings in other colors and shapes however, below are four alternate options from our boutique (please note these are not currently online), just email Cerena our new store manager if any of the four are of interest to you and she will be able to assist with available sizes, price etc...store@wendyminkjewelry.com.

Spring Happenings....

Hello! Let me introduce myself, my name is Cerena and I am the new Wendy Mink store manager. I'll be blogging every month about new events and special pieces in our LES boutique.



This month so far has been a whirlwind of events-setting up the store and lot's of birthday celebrations. Above pictured is me with a birthday card of my face photoshopped on my cat's body(it's a funny WMJ tradition). Below is the beautiful cake Susan, our production manager, baked for me. Yum!!!

One of the first exciting tasks I assumed as the new store manager was changing the window display. Our new window display is a bridal window as a tribute to all the Spring and Summer weddings to come. Here are some pics for those of you who can't make it to our Lower East Side store:

A Flea, Raffia and Vintage Expansion

Hello-
If you read the blog a couple of weeks ago you'll remember us mentioning a new Flea Market on the Lower East Side, last weekend 3 brave Wendy Mink-ers (including Ms Mink herself) braved the unusually freezing weather to see what was going on there! Above are some snaps of the vendors we came across, all rugged up in scarves like it was the middle of winter, hello summer yes we are ready anytime now....anyway the Flea is GREAT, a bunch of fabulous vintage clothing, homeware vendors, handmade jewelry and accessories and a whole ton of amazing food....because we were trying to warm up (no other reason of course) we had to try the crab rolls which were super delicious and can also be found in the East Village at Luke's, highly recommend this treat while you are browsing the booths. Of course the best thing about this Flea is the proximity to Wendy Mink Jewelry! Duck down Hester St, shoot up Ludlow, hang a left on Grand, quick right on Orchard and there you are....right now we are offering folks who come over from the Flea a 10% discount, so mention you were just there to receive (except 22K).


What is this cabinet and blank wall you ask? This is the the beginning of a wonderful transformation currently underway in our boutique, as we type the rear section of our store is becoming a gorgeous vintage jewelry space! Due to a growing demand for our vintage jewels we have undertaken this extension and we couldn't be happier with how it is coming along, we will feature a great range of styles from Victorian through to the 1970's, our new store manager Ms Cerena Dumpit will also be blogging direct from the store next week and she will be posting some pics of the changes with a whole bunch of store news too, soon our web customers will have more virtual access to our physical store and we think it will be a welcome addition to our
online customer service!







This weekend online (till 17th) we will have a special Raffia Earring section, we should have this all ready to go by midday Friday the 14th so definitely check back in if you are a raffia fan and would like to snatch few styles for summer. In many cases we can customize a pair also so if you have a color way you love let us know and we can take it from there, for custom queries email Cerena on: store@wendyminkjewelry.com. Raffia is great because it's light, possibly bright and never seems to be out of style! We hear crochet and raffia are just the ticket for Fall '10 too, we know because editors are asking us...and you can always trust an editor to be in the know!

Dainty and Delicate

Hello there! How is May treating you? we hope very well! What a warm week it's been here in NYC, plenty of locals and tourists out shopping this week on the Lower East Side, our boutique has been selling a whole range gorgeous pieces including one of a kind vintage, beaded hoops, chunky chains....we are pretty excited about a new collection coming up for web and boutique shoppers, exclusive to you this line will be great high quality stones and metals, we know how much you loved shopping the Cheap Chic so we are revising this with a few changes but the same wonderful value for your bucks! Above are some best sellers from our recent trade show, from the top Cerena is wearing a fabulous twisted coral chain from our corals story, we wish we were on a island right now! Below the coral style Erin is wearing two white styles, the shorter is freshwater pearl with hammered gold tone leaf pendant, the longer strand is white jade, African gold beads and bone. On her wrist are the matching stretch bracelets we made for our 'wood' group, these were hot property at the show! The last image is Amy wearing the semi-precious beaded bib necklace, we have made this in many a combination and can customize one just for you too! So Wendy and Susan came to work today looking pretty fabulous! Tonight in our studio they are hosting a reunion of UCSC (University of California- Santa Cruz), there are a couple of cases of wine sitting here looking rather enticing but not sure opening them just yet is ideal.....lastly check out Wendy's fab footwear today, boy does this lady have an AMAZING shoe collection. Well, almost time to wave goodbye to April, where does the start of the year go? freezing this week here in NYC so at least we are looking forward to the warmer days of May. This week is busy here at Mink headquarters, the finishing touches are being applied to the brand new collection which will be revealed next week at the NY Circuit show, it's looking mighty fabulous with a ton of gorgeous naturals, rich corals, turquoise and simple clusters, you know, all the good stuff! Also featured in the members area is a range of vintage jewels, we know sometimes vintage pieces can be a more 'adventurous' choice, it's difficult to know if the piece will work with what you have in your closet and if you are not used to buying vintage it can be daunting! We suggest starting with a simple style, maybe a costume gold layering chain, 50's chain link bracelet or a pretty pin that you can just pop on a favorite cardy or shirt. In our boutique we sell a whole range of vintage and many of the ladies who shop this collection have a good idea of the era they love. Are you a bauble statement lady of the 60's or an understated delicate Victorian type of shopper.....if you are just starting to dip your foot into vintage jewels start simple then build up to a fabulous statement piece that you'll get a ton of comments on! The wonderful thing about vintage is that it's one-of-a-kind, it's a pleasure to wear a necklace that isn't sitting beside you on the subway on another neck, plus it's recycled! Hello there!


If you are reading this and you were born before, let's say the 80's, you will remember a time when celebrities were not on the cover of magazines, back then it was all about models and the clothes! These days it's all about the celebrity, what they wear to the supermarket, who they are dating, what shampoo they use...how many pancakes they eat after yoga....it can all get a little dizzying. We at WMJ have always made great handmade jewelry for every style of women and have not aggressively sought celebrity endorsement, sometimes it happens and we love to send wonderful jewels to TV and film should the opportunity arise. In the past year we've been fortunate to supply a bunch of styles to various shows (The Apprentice, new Adventures of Old Christine, What Not To Wear, Rachel Ray, the Starter Wife...), there's no denying the great fun in seeing shots of the leading ladies wearing WMJ for the cameras! Over the years our number one fan has been the rather charming Debra Messing. From the days of Will & Grace right through to her current projects with Youth Aids in Africa, we have enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Debra involving many fab jewels and exchanges of pictures. In this month's InStyle Debra talks of her love for jewelry and right there in her jewelry box we spy two WMJ styles! For her recent work in Africa we supplied Debra with our Berry African styles, many of which are available right now on our website, here are some of the pieces below from the group, if you have any queries about these styles please email us on: retail@wendyminkjewelry.com.
