What Happens in Vegas
Hello blog-readers! We hope you are enjoying this last week of August, the countdown is on to Labor Day & we all know what that means....no more white pants! oh and the beginning of the end....of summer. Though this is sad in itself it means September which around these parts is a super busy month! This September we are doing something a little new & different, WMJ is off to Vegas! This coming weekend Wendy & the sales team will be winging their way to the city of gambling for the Project Trade Show taking place at The Sands Expo center. Very exciting for us to be participating in a new show, we hope to find some fabulous new retailers for this part of the country so WMJ will be available in more places for YOU! If you are in Las Vegas at this time do drop by to visit our booth (#3008) to visit Wendy, Erin, Kelly & Nadine as they show our most recent collection for Fall/Winter, we wish you luck ladies & hope that the show is a success, try to stay away from the tables if you can.....
Big fish, little fish! here are some wonderful fish pendants we currently have available. These fish are handmade in Peru by highly skilled artisans, the detail is just great, each fish 'moves' with flexible scales & comes in these two sizes, whether you prefer a big catch or a small one! Cerena above is wearing her larger fish (in gold vermeil) & Amy is wearing her smaller version -also in gold vermeil. These fish are available from our boutique (wendyminkstore@gmail.com) or if you are a web customer you can also special order by emailing us at retail@wendyminkjewelry.com. We have a few different versions depending on your personal style, they can be gold or silver, on a chunky chain or thinner style, with stones or without! If you drop by our boutique you can check out the fish in person, Kelly or Brookes will be able to help you decide & if necessary have a custom fish made up for you, please note the pricepoints for this piece are dependent on the style chosen.
Who doesn't love a pearl? Julia Child sure did! if you haven't seen Julie & Julia yet you must, made us want to wear a pearl choker while cooking Beef Bourgogne & peeking out the window at a Parisian skyline....but back to reality. We have these fabulous new pearl pieces available for you, as usual if you are a New Yorker do drop by the boutique to view but make sure to call first on 212 260 5298 to check the pieces have not been snapped up! The necklace above is a fabulous handmade bib, inspired by Indian style jewelry & featuring white freshwater pearls. This necklace is $198, if you are a web customer you can also order this piece by tapping your details to us at retail@wendyminkjewelry.com. The bracelet above is a gorgeous tangled layer of chain, gold vermeil beads & freshwater pearls, this piece is $175, same as above, drop by our boutique to give it a try or email us at the web.....our boutique also carries a bunch of fabulous pearl earrings from this new collection which would complement these pieces above just perfectly, we think Julia would approve.
This week we leave you with an image of a very iconic rock! Where is this rock? Australia of course! Important because this week our Sales Manager, Nadine King, leaves us to return to
her Aussie homeland. We wish her all the best among the koalas & gumtrees, enjoy all that nature for us! (though maybe without the poisonous spiders & enormous sharks). How interesting this is because many years before Meryl Streep played Julia Child she played an infamous Australian by the name of Lindy Chamberlain...."A dingo ate my baby......". It's all connected!
Enjoy the rest of your week & stay in touch, thanks to all of our new (& older!) customers who shopped with us through August (please note that great Lucky deal closes this coming Monday).
The WMJ team in NYC.

Rings 'n Things
Hello!
We hope all is well this hot (& busy) August! Though people generally tend to drift out of the city when the heat hits we have found many ladies still shopping happily in our boutique & online (much cheaper than a vacation!), thanks to all who have purchased great styles so far this month. We are lucky to have been shot in a few September issues, here is the latest InStyle with our Gold Cluster Earring sold online at shopbird.com, a very cool website that we have mentioned in a previous blog, Bird have a couple of locations so you could also visit in person, they have many great Wendy Mink styles plus such gorgeous clothes, check it out!
Here's a page straight from W magazine's September Fashion issue, this shot is currently Wendy's favorite fashion image, a great '40s inspired look with gorgeous (non skimpy!) lingerie & fabulous Prada boots (though not exactly a work look). The colors are pretty fabulous too & have inspired Wendy to dive further into Fall-Winter palettes with a little retro thrown in for good measure, expect some creamy browns, ivory & gray when the cold hits! Now if we could just get the bust-to-waist-to-hip ratio as this lovely lady above it'd all be perfect!
Speaking of waist measurements these oat scones above may be partly to blame for any expansions currently occurring around these parts. Wendy has taken to buying these for us on the way to work & leaving them on our meeting table for us to devour. Which wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't started slathering on the butter (as all good scones should be eaten). These fine treats are courtesy of Billy's bakery on 9th Ave in Manhatten, so good but so big.....thanks for keeping us all well & truly fed Wendy (though none of us would ever starve that's for sure)!
But back to jewels. We thought we'd show you some treats of a non-edible nature from our boutique this week, as we've said many times, the store really is full of wonderful styles, plenty more than we could ever feature online so you must drop by if you are in NYC. Kelly knows all styles (classic & current), semi-precious stones, chains etc back to front so she can help with any gift requirements, custom needs or just a good old try-on! It's a truly great place to buy jewelry for friends or family as pricepoints are so varied, we swear there's something for everyone, and here are some of the styles Kelly especially loves right now......
These rings above are great sellers, a very reasonable $40 each & cute stones such as; turquoise, ruby, moonstone etc. There are a bunch of sizes in the store so drop by to try on or give Kelly a call on 212 260 5298 & she will be able to help you out with specifics! the added bonus to these is that they are Sterling with gold vermeil so good quality as well as a good price, that's what we like! Below the rings are some pendant chains, Wendy has done a great range of sizeable semi-precious drops on chains, these are perfect for gifts as they come in a few different colors. Because these are high quality (and large!) the drops vary in price so you may want to drop by the store to check them out in person (these photos certainly do not do them justice) or call Kelly to see what she currently has in stock, above is the stunning Ruby Drop in two sizes, it is pictured with the Gold Cluster Chain which is a fab piece for layering & matches that InStyle earring above!
Here are two more of these large drop options, the top image is a rhudilated quartz drop, a gorgeous semi-precious stone with slashes of black running through the clear quartz, under that on the same jewelry display is the chunky bandit agate teardrop which Wendy has used liberally in her latest collection, Wendy has always loved this stone, it was used predominantly in the Victorian period & can also be found on some of the fabulous Wendy Mink Vintage in our boutique. The image below this is Kelly holding a huge beautiful drop of semi-precious Amethyst, such a popular stone & is particularly stunning on this scale! Please call or email Kelly in the store for queries regarding these drop styles, we also have a number of other colors which we may be able to custom make for you....
Well that's about it from us this week, make sure you are on our mailing list to receive a card for our Summer Sale, it's going to be a good one, (please note that the sale will not be boutique-wide), enjoy the rest of your week & the weekend coming!

Remember 'Braveheart'?
Hello there-
Sweltering yet? It's like someone has been slowly turning the oven up & now it's reached pizza-baking levels in NYC! We hope you are managing to stay cool wherever you are & enjoy this fine summer while it is here, slightly depressing thinking of dates for the 'end-of-summer-sale', though we will not be naming it that in fear it will induce rain & biting winds! So, this week we bring you some plaid, which is where this week's blog title comes from. Ok we know it is a loose association but remember Mel Gibson (before the drunken driving/cop/name-calling) when he was in Braveheart? All those lovely thick plaid kilts & shawls to ward off the wind on the moors.....if memory serves Rob Roy with Liam Neeson was not far behind....plaid was in and now it's back! (and we feel Mel made up for the road incident with the rather spectacular Apocalypto). This month the fabulous Real Simple magazine has done a wonderful Fall spread with many great simple styles for the cooler weather, we were rather fortunate to feature three times so here are the pieces in more detail just in case they appeal to our blog readers!
The shot above is straight from the pages of Real Simple (under it is the piece in closer format), great necklace with green plaid ribbon tie & rose-gold vermeil chain, and for under $100 a bit of a steal! Tor order this piece please call (or email) our boutique on 212 260 5298, wendyminkstore@gmail.com. If you have existing web orders you could also email retail@wendyminkjewelry.com to add it on.
The next two shots are a sequin lariat (top) & this great bright vintage resin chain above, both pieces are just $98! We do not unfortunately have closer shots of these 2 pieces but do email us with any queries. The sequin lariat is hand-crocheted & features sterling silver woven-detailed beads on the ends, this allows for a little weight so your lariat will sit perfectly tied all day long, really great piece without the usual weight of a chain or beads, plus the silvery gray is right on the ball for this Fall. The last shot here is the vintage resin pink chain, all part of this neon trend picked up by editors this season, so cute & vaguely reminiscent of the 80's, so tease up those bangs & throw Wham! on the walkman (remember having to turn the tape over?)! To order or enquire about these pieces just use the contact details above.
So, big changes this week coming online, we are switching up our 'shop collections' group, a little bit of a Spring clean in late Summer! On Friday we will be mailing a newsletter (make sure you are subscribed!) announcing the new pieces & for two days only (over this coming weekend) we will have the soon-to-be-disappearing styles available for purchase, (then come Monday they will be gone)...which means you certainly should purchase styles you have coveted while you can, if you do however notice we have removed something you loved just drop us a line at retail@, we can usually still make the pieces, materials allowing, so they are gone but entirely forgotten. These two pretty pieces above are a preview of what we will be popping on the site later this week, there's some fab new colors & styles that we hope you will really like, check back to view the whole new range later this week or you could just wait till our newsletter drops into your inbox!
Well that's about it for this week, best we get on with placing these great new styles online for our customers! Stay in touch for anything web related at retail@wendyminkjewelry.com or anything boutique related at wendyminkstore@gmail.com.
Yours in Plaid, WMJ.

Mad Women!
Hello August! Not sure if it's the heat or the new season on it's way but we have gone MAD MEN crazy! The outfits, the midday drinks, the sets, the smoking! What's not to love on this great show, the ladies in the office are all nuts for Don Draper (misogyny aside) & the amazing clothes, particularly those on Joan & Betty, wowsie, what fabulousness! To celebrate our new obsession this week we thought we might feature some vintage pieces from our Wendy Mink Vintage collection which reflect this 50's-60's style, and what style it is. Imagine popping on gloves just to leave the house, a twinset for gardening or a full ruffled silk nightdress to go to sleep (we do not however support smoking in bed which surely is very hazardous).
Above is our dear Cerena appearing very 'Joan-like' in a fabulous pair of huge 60's clip on earrings from our Vintage collection, she doesn't actually smoke but we couldn't resist it as a prop....now hurry back to your typing Cerena!
This first vintage piece above is just beautiful, rows of milky white glass beads with individually set pink-y, purple-y rhinestones. Though it seems pretty dressy this necklace would also look great with a casual pair of jeans & nice tshirt, or if you wanted to go the full Mad Men way then it would look amazing with a full-skirted dress & shiny pair of heels, grab a cocktail, cigarette & you'd be all set! For length, price & other queries relating to this fabulous necklace please email: retail@wendyminkjewelry.com, but read on there is more.....
The next vintage gem is a four-stranded choker (with extension chain), this piece is one of Wendy's personal favorites & she is a little loathe to part with it....it is very lightweight (considering the amount of layers) with synthetic pearl & turquoise beads, each bead is held by a cute starfish shaped metal finding, very retro-cool necklace & very right now in terms of style, we just did a whole bunch of similar pearl, layered styles in our recent collection & are certainly seeing these shapes reflected in the magazines....Betty Draper is certainly in style! As above do email us to find out specifics of this great piece.
Another great pearl moment! This choker also features an extender chain for extra length. Features costume pearls & lovely opalescent rhinestones, a cute sparkly number for dressing up or dressing down, the great thing about these vintage chokers is that they are so wearable with a modern wardrobe & you are guaranteed to get compliments...plus when it's one-of-a-kind there isn't going to be another one on the same block! Email us to enquire about this glam piece, it could be yours for your next dinner party or cocktail hour at the club!
Here's some retro inspired gems of our own from our Fall 09 collection, great cobalt, gold, grey pearl & African glass beads. The beaded circle earrings are $80 & just over 2" in length. The matching linear drops are $55 & are 2.5" in length. All gold triple drops are $51 & are 2". To order any of these chic earrings email us at: retail@wendyminkjewelry.com, or if you are in NYC you can drop by our boutique to try on, maybe give Kelly or Brookes a call on 212 260 5298 first just to make sure these have not been sold.
Well we hope we have inspired you to catch a bit of Mad Men if you haven't already, believe us it's worth it for the clothes alone....speaking of shows it's show season right now for us, we just completed the first & the stand out seller was the beautiful cut-out hoops & chandeliers we have featured in a whole variety of shapes & sizes for our recent collections. We have an extensive well-priced range of these cut-outs in our boutique, here's a snapshot of some below, they are numbered so if you are interested in any please use that retail address to drop us a line!
Well we hope your August has started out well, we are certainly beginning to swelter here in NYC, but it's not a total surprise...do email if you have any queries & stay in touch for upcoming new web styles within next 2 weeks!
Happy Wednesday, the Mad Women.
